01
General Anaesthesia
General anaesthesia is a combination of medications that put you in a sleep-like state during a surgery or other medical procedures. Under general anaesthesia you do not feel pain because you are completely unconscious. General anaesthesia usually uses a combination of intravenous drugs and inhaled gasses (anaesthetics).
02
Conscious Sedation
This is a technique that makes use of intravenous medication to produce a controlled state of diminished consciousness enabling the procedure to be carried out. This enables the patient to breath on their own. Patients usually have no recollection of actions taken during the procedure (e.g., colonoscopy, gastroscopy & eye procedures).
03
Local Anaesthesia
A temporary loss of sensation & pain stimuli in a specific part of the body induced using local anaesthetic formulations. The patient stays awake or may have conscious sedation while the procedure is performed.
04
Nerve Block
Nerve block (regional nerve blockade) is any deliberate interruption of signals traveling along a nerve. This is done for the purpose of intra -or – post operative pain relief.
05
Spinal Block
A temporary loss of feeling in the abdomen and/or the lower part of the body. Local anaesthetic medications are injected into the fluid in the lower part of the spinal column to cause the loss of feeling. The patient may stay awake during the procedure or receive simultaneous sedation depending on the type of procedure. It is a type of regional anesthesia. Also called spinal anesthesia or subarachnoidal block.
06
Epidural Block
An injection of an anaesthetic medication into the epidural space. This technique can be used over longer periods of time, for example, during labour and for the control of post-operative pain for thoracic and extensive abdominal surgery.
07
Central Line
A central venous catheter, also known as a central line, central venous line, or central venous access catheter, is a catheter placed into a large vein usually located in the neck or subclavian. A central venous line allows fluids , blood and blood products and parenteral nutrition to be administered as well as determining venous pressure.

Blood Transfusion & Blood products
Blood transfusion is the process of transferring blood products into one’s circulation intravenously. Transfusions are used for various medical conditions to replace lost components of the blood. A blood product is any therapeutic substance prepared from human blood. This includes whole blood; blood components; and plasma derivatives
